When you use Sprk, we collect the following types of information:

• Journal Entries: The text you write in your journals is stored securely on your device and, if you enable iCloud syncing, in your personal iCloud account. We do not store your journal entries on our servers. However, for certain AI-driven features (such as Vibe Check and Snap Replies), your journal entries are temporarily transmitted to our secure servers for processing via API calls. After processing, the entries are immediately discarded and not retained.
• Mood Data: Information about the mood of your journal entries, as determined by our AI through API calls to our servers (for the Vibe Check feature), is stored along with your entries on your device and in iCloud. We do not collect or store this data separately on our servers.
• Usage Data: We collect anonymous information about how you interact with the app, such as which features you use and how long you spend in the app. This helps us improve Sprk's functionality and user experience.
• Device Information: We may collect general information about your device, such as the type of device, operating system version, and unique device identifiers. This data is anonymized and used to optimize the app's performance across different devices.
• Purchase Information: If you purchase the Voltage upgrade, we receive confirmation of your purchase from Apple. We do not store your payment details.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain Sprk's core journaling functionality.
• Power AI-driven features like mood detection (Vibe Check), personalized prompts (Spark Prompts), AI-generated reflections (Snap Replies), and visual mood tracking (Vibe Canvas). All AI processing for these features occurs via API calls to our secure servers. Your journal entries are temporarily transmitted to our servers for analysis, processed in real-time, and then immediately discarded. We may retain anonymized data derived from the entries to improve our AI models and enhance the app's functionality.
• Analyze usage patterns to improve the app's design and introduce new features.
• Process and confirm your purchase of the Voltage upgrade.

Data Processing for AI Features

All AI processing for features like Vibe Check, Snap Replies, and other AI-driven functionalities is performed through API calls to our servers. Here's how it works:

• Transmission: When you use these features, your journal entry is sent to our servers via a secure, encrypted connection.
• Processing: Our AI analyzes the entry on our servers to generate mood insights, prompts, or replies.
• Deletion: Once the analysis is complete, the journal entry is immediately discarded from our servers. We do not store your journal entries.
• Anonymized Data: We may retain anonymized data (e.g., general sentiment trends or word patterns) to improve our AI models, but this data cannot be linked back to you or your specific entries.

This server-side processing ensures that your sensitive information is handled securely and not retained beyond what is necessary to provide the app's features.

Data Storage and Security

Your journal entries are stored on your device and, if enabled, synced to your personal iCloud account. We do not maintain a server database of your entries. When data is transmitted to our servers for AI processing, it is sent over a secure, encrypted connection (HTTPS) to protect it from unauthorized access.

Our servers are hosted in secure environments with access controls and regular security audits. We implement industry-standard security measures to safeguard your data, both in transit and during processing.

If you purchase the Voltage upgrade, you can enable an additional layer of security with Face ID, Touch ID, or your device passcode to lock the app.

Data Sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share limited data in the following circumstances:

• With Our Servers: For the sole purpose of processing AI features like Vibe Check and Snap Replies via API calls, as described above.
• With Apple: For iCloud storage and syncing, as well as to process App Store purchases. Your data shared with Apple is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
• With Service Providers: We use third-party services for app analytics (e.g., to understand how users navigate the app) and crash reporting (to identify and fix bugs). These providers receive only anonymized data, such as aggregated usage statistics and device information, and are contractually obligated to protect your privacy.
• For Legal Reasons: If required by law, we may disclose information to comply with legal processes or protect our rights.

Your Rights and Choices

You have full control over your journal entries. You can:

• Access, edit, or delete your entries at any time within the app.
• Export your data in Markdown format if you have the Voltage upgrade.
• Manage iCloud syncing through your device settings.
